Ian Calder – the new Elephant Man at Centrix
Centrix have been supplying the Elephant call logging product for a number of years but in September we saw our largest ever order for call loggers, and an ambitious roll-out programme, when MWB Business Exchange ordered 40 of them for their UK and European offices.
Marylebone Warwick Balfour Group plc operate in six divisions including MWB Business Exchange, which is their highly successful chain of European business centres and serviced offices.
Ian Calder, Commercial Director at Centrix, was responsible for securing the largest single order for Elephant when MWB needed to replace an existing network of call loggers that were no longer providing the functionality and ease-of-use that had been part of the initial design brief. Ian explains: “We first met MWB when they attended one of our seminars earlier in the year and were very impressed with the functionality of Elephant that we were demonstrating. Not only is it a very cost-effective solution but it has been specifically enhanced to provide new reporting and fraud detection, especially for the serviced office sectors.”
David Wills from Wills Consulting, who wrote Elephant and markets the product was impressed by the order and commented: “Centrix have been successfully supplying our product to a number of serviced offices in recent years but this was by far the largest single order. This now brings the number of serviced offices using Elephant to in excess of 130 which is further testament to the suitability of Elephant in multi-tenanted units.”
Once the order had been secured, in what was a competitive bidding process, Centrix then had to ensure the project management and rollout of the installations went entirely to plan. Ian Calder, now affectionately called ‘The Elephant Man’ by his colleagues, explains: “The MWB sites were pretty much the length and breadth of the country so, as you can imagine, a great deal of thought went into the project management of the installations. Alan Lloyd, one of our senior project managers oversaw the entire project and ensured that everything went entirely to plan. In fact nothing was overlooked, or should I say, forgotten – as Elephants never forget neither could Centrix!”
