-Oct: Winchfield Lodge - new home to Centrix

'Winchfield Lodge', new home
to Centrix.

As of Monday 29th October Centrix have relocated to their new prestigious premises at Winchfield Lodge.

Winchfield Lodge is a 120-year old building set in 4 acres of Hampshire countryside and offers 9,000 sq ft of office accommodation over 3 floors.

In addition Centrix have made use of the basement as a secure comms room and demonstration facilities for their new IP-switching centre.

Dave Everest, Operations Director for Centrix, explains the rationale behind the move. "Since the end of last year we have been looking for a new and more permanent home for Centrix that would allow us to expand into the space available rather than expand out of it, as has been the case for the last couple of years. Ideally we wanted a character building but with the potential to become a showcase for the technology we provide. Winchfield Lodge not only offers a pleasant working environment for our staff but also offers the latest in Category-5e cabling and wireless LAN technology throughout the building. With the installation of our own Avaya Definity IP600 switch we are also implementing our own IP-voice platform using a mixture of IP hardphones, IP softphones, wireless and traditional digital and analogue phones. As you can imagine a building of this age and design doesn't lend itself to hundreds of structured cabling outlets to be installed so we have gone for a mix of wired Cat-5e and wireless LAN."

The building, which was originally a residential house, has been tastefully redecorated prior to Centrix moving in to provide a modern office environment whilst retaining many of the original features. Most of the offices have their original fireplaces and ceiling beams. Its only when you look closely can you see the concealed wireless LAN access points dotted around that make it obvious we are in the 21st Century.

Dave Everest concludes by adding "Winchfield Lodge met all of our requirements as a building, including ample parking and modern meeting rooms, and it was pretty much love at first sight when we saw the property. I would be very surprised if this wasn't the permanent home for Centrix for many years to come. We're looking forward to having our first customer parties on the lawn next summer !"

Winchfield Lodge is located in the small Hampshire village of Winchfield which offers good communications with its proximity to the A30 (1/2 mile), M3 (3 miles) and mainline station to London Waterloo (1/2 mile). Major towns of Basingstoke (7 miles), Reading (11 miles) and Guildford (15 miles) are all close by.
