Centrix Joins the Hunt

It was Friday 2nd May 2008 and once again Centrix and its offices, Winchfield Lodge, played host to another music extravaganza evening when it hosted the lead singer of The Wonder Stuff, Miles Hunt, and his new musician partner, Erica Nockalls.

The event, fast becoming an annual excuse to allow the staff of Centrix to let their hair down and also for Richard Burbage (Sales & Marketing Director and Michael Eavis in the making – who? Google it!) to educate the staff to something other than Will Young and Girls Aloud (now there’s a thought for next year – Girls Aloud play silently), was once again staged in the boardroom to an audience of around 40 invited guests.

Before the evening began, Tim Marshall and his band, ETP, opened the proceedings with a number of cover versions and some of their own excellent material which served as a good indication of the volume to expect when Miles and Erica took to the stage shortly after. For those of you interested, the set list was as follows: 96 bottles of Peroni, 24 cans of John Smith’s Original Bitter, 12 bottles of Merlot 2003 (red), 12 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc 2003 (white), 15 pizzas (variety of toppings), 1 Diet Coke.

Once the staff had made a dent in the free drinks, Miles & Erica played a mixture of their own material from last years’ excellent “Not An Exit” album and, naturally, some classic The Wonder Stuff songs from the late 80s and early 90s. Miles Hunt, lead singer of The Wonder Stuff, had this to say at 2am as he sat reclined in his chair at the bar of the local hotel, Tylney Hall, “We’re mid way through a tour at the moment and this has been a welcome break from the usual venues that we’ve been appearing at. The Merlot was palatable and it was great to see that musical-numpty from Centrix, Peter Fisher, didn’t show up. Keep him away again and we’d love to come back and play for you guys”.

Richard Burbage, Sales & Marketing Director of Centrix, added the following, “Miles & Erica performed brilliantly and captivated the audience. It was a pleasure to have them perform in front of us and keep the neighbours awake. Now who did drink that Diet Coke?!”
