Centrix on the Slide in Sheffield

Most people know the economy is on the slide, but a pioneering office development in Yorkshire has been designed to turn a downward spiral into an uplifting business experience.

Electric Works, part of Sheffield city centre's new Digital Campus, will welcome its first tenants next Monday, and each of them will have exclusive use of the building's indoor helter skelter. And Centrix, once again, designed a converged voice, data and internet solution for the building in collaboration with Yorkshire Forward, the developers Scarborough Development Group and Sheffield Council, which has bought the building.

The office complex is the first in the country to include a slide, which is designed to take people from the third floor to the ground floor reception area in an exhilirating seven seconds.

Electric Works stands on land between the city's railway and bus stations and is aimed at people working in the creative industries and media, from freelancers who work alone to companies of up to 75 people.

Richard Burbage, Sales & Marketing Director for Centrix elaborates further: “Having worked with a number of regional councils in the north of England to deliver a converged solution for their multi-tenanted buildings, we were particularly excited when we were approached by Creative Space Management to design and implement a ground-breaking solution for what was immediately obvious was a ground-breaking building. Our experience and knowledge in this vertical market is well documented, but there were still aspects of the requirements that were unique to the building and the customers specification. It’s a genuinely unique building and we were proud to be part of the history at the outset.”
