Medusa™ turns the competition
to stone

Centrix are pleased to announce they have been appointed as the sole UK distributor for the powerful Medusa One-Step Internet™ product range of fast Internet distribution and billing devices for business centres, workspace and other Multi-Tenant Units (MTU’s).

Medusa has been long positioned as the product of choice in UK Business Centres who need a single, rack-mounted, product that can deliver a secure internet connection with it’s own in-built firewall. In addition the product includes a comprehensive billing platform allowing the Business Centre operator to charge a flat monthly amount or to bill based on bandwidth used or data transferred.

Gary Smith, Technical Director for Phoenix Broadband Limited (PBL, the manufacturers of Medusa One-Step Internet™) explains why Centrix were appointed as sole UK distributors.

“As developers and manufacturers of Medusa we needed to focus more on the future development of the product and less on the sales and marketing so we could put all our emphasis on what we’re best at; designing competitively-priced and feature-rich internet solutions. Towards the end of 2002 we looked at our existing resellers to establish if any one of them would commit to the product sufficiently that we could give them sole distribution rights. Centrix were already a successful reseller for us with an in-depth technical knowledge of the product, and therefore it was an obvious choice to work even more closely with them.”

Matthew Barnett, Major Accounts Manager for Centrix, explains further.

“We’ve had a lot of success recently in supplying Medusa™ to our customers as it is not only a unique product in what is, in effect, a very specialised vertical market, but is also a very scalable solution. Its scalable architecture allows us to apply the Medusa™ solution to low cost ADSL-type installations in the smaller centres right through to sophisticated leased-line solutions encompassing multiple VPN’s. When PBL approached us with a view to taking on the product as sole UK distributors it was a very logical step for us as we were already supporting a number of customers and therefore self-sufficient. We’re looking forward to PBL continuing to develop the platform and indeed introducing some new products to their portfolio in the future.”
