On December 8th 2003 Avaya announced the launch and availability of the latest Definity software release, Communication Manager 2.0.
Communication Manager 2.0 will support a tremendous amount of new gateway, server and software technology such as the following:-
Support for the new Avaya™ S8500 Media Server
(mid-sized Linux-based server)
Support for the new Avaya™ G650 Media Gateway (rack-mounted cabinet supporting existing ‘Definity’ TN circuit packs)
Support for the new Avaya™ G350 Media Gateway
(rack-mounted blade style, small branch office)
In addition Communication Manager 2.0 supports a huge range of additional traditional voice and IP-telephony features and a simplified structure to the right-to-use licenses that are synonymous with Definity.
Richard Burbage, Sales & Marketing Director of Centrix had this to say about the new release. “2003 saw Avaya become the world’s largest IP telephony provider and with the release of Communication Manager 2.0 this can only strengthen their lead even further. Without doubt this is the most important release of Definity software since R9 in 2001 as it adds a whole host of new IP telephony features and support for the exciting new server and gateway products. In fact, I doubt there is a manufacturer in the world with a more comprehensive range of hardware options and software features than Avaya.” >More information from Centrix
