Psion Software to trial new mobility solutions with Centrix
Psion have chosen to partner with Centrix to beta-trial their new Transcend Mail software to deliver mobile email to the new generation of mobile phones.
Psion Software’s Transcend Mail is an enterprise grade push email solution for Symbian operating system based mobile phones such as the new Nokia 7650/3650 and Sony Ericsson P800. It is designed to enable the volume adoption of mobile email across all industry sections and for all levels of staff. In addition to enterprise grade security, reliability and administration, Transcend Mail has been designed for maximum usability with minimum costs of acquisition and ownership.
Transcend Mail keeps email, contacts and calendar always up to date both in the office and on the phone. Changes are immediately transferred as they occur. Data is stored on the phone to make it available even when no network connection is available.
The security and operation of Transcend is fully automated. The user has no need to initiate or interact with the operations to ensure that email, contacts and calendar entries are kept up to date.
Richard Burbage, Sales & Marketing Director of Centrix explains how the relationship with Psion came about. “Initially Centrix were looking for real-time deliver and synchronisation of MS Outlook™ for our staff that work remotely using either a PDA or a mobile phone. The new generation of Symbian OS mobile phones appeared to best the form factor for such a device but what they lacked was a push-email system whereby emails arriving at your desktop were automatically ‘pushed’ to your mobile phone. We then heard that Psion Software were developing Transcend Mail for this very purpose and wanted beta-trial sites and companies such as Centrix to partner with. The trial itself will begin in July with a full launch of the product in September 2003. Assuming all goes well with the trial we have every intention of including Transcend Mail in our suite of products and services to delivery even more productive solutions to our customers who also want a mobility solution.”
